    Andrew Barry Van Dyke was born in Pequannock, New Jersey, on November 7, 1998, to his loving parents, Barry and Mary Van Dyke.     Outside of school and military service, Andrew worked at Ballyowen Country Club in food service, where he was known for his hard work and friendly demeanor. He enjoyed spending time fishing outdoors, which allowed him to appreciate the natural beauty of his surroundings.

    Andrew’s love for his family was evident in the strong relationships he had with his parents, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Van Dyke family, as well as the Vernon Township community, will always remember Andrew’s kindness, love, and laughter.

Upon graduating from high school in 2017, he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.     On that fateful day in July, Andrew was driving north on Route 93 in his Toyota Rav4 when he collided with a dump truck on Route 284. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his car upon impact. Andrew passed away at the scene, leaving his loved ones devastated.

    After the crash, Jeremy Hermida, 28, who was driving the dump truck from Middletown, New York, was taken to the hospital for a checkup. Andrew’s untimely death deeply affected all who knew him, particularly because of his commitment to serving his country and his friendly, kind-hearted personality.

    The Obituary Barry Van Dyke’s Funeral took place on July 9, 2017, at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home in Vernon, New Jersey. Family and friends gathered from 2-6 PM to say their goodbyes and support one another in their shared grief. The following day, on July 10, a funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Highland Lakes, New Jersey.

    The service was a solemn and respectful occasion to remember Andrew’s life and offer comfort to his loved ones. The entire community came together to honor Andrew and reminisce about his unwavering dedication to helping others and his warm, caring nature.
